Retro Buddy: 850+ Analog Instruments (VST-AU)

Retro Buddy is a virtual instrument built around sounds recorded from 14 vintage synthesizers. It includes more than 850 presets covering basses, keys, pads, leads, plucks, strings, drones, sequences, FX, and synth sounds.

The library is designed for producers who want the tone and character of older hardware without collecting and maintaining a room full of vintage instruments. It works well for Hip-Hop, Trap, Drill, R&B, Pop, Afrobeats, EDM, cinematic music, and other styles that benefit from warm synth textures.

Recorded from Real Vintage Hardware

The source material was recorded from real synthesizers, including instruments from Moog, Roland, Korg, Oberheim, Ensoniq, and ARP. The sounds were then edited and organised into playable presets that can be used directly inside your DAW.

Some patches keep the raw character of the original instruments, while others are processed and reshaped for more modern productions. This gives you a useful mix of classic analog tones and ready-to-use sounds.

Sound Shaping and Modulation

Retro Buddy includes an AHDSR envelope and three LFOs for shaping volume, movement, and modulation. You can use them for subtle changes, evolving pads, rhythmic motion, or more experimental sound design.

The built-in compressor and limiter help control dynamics, while the glide section makes it easy to create smooth transitions between notes. An equalizer with spectrum display and low- and high-cut filters are also included for quick tonal adjustments.

Built-In Effects

The plugin includes two delay engines, two chorus engines, and two phasers. Each pair can be adjusted independently, making it possible to build simple effects or combine multiple layers of movement and space.

There are also two reverb options. The standard reverb handles familiar room and hall-style spaces, while the convolution reverb includes nine impulse responses: Cathedral, Garage, Hall, Library, Mall, Space, Theater, Tunnel, and Water.

Distortion and Smasher FX

The distortion section can add light saturation, extra density, or a more aggressive edge. Wet and dry controls let you blend the processed sound with the original signal instead of fully replacing it.

The Smasher effect adds attack shaping and rhythmic wobble. It can be used to make a sound more percussive or to turn a steady pad or synth into a moving, uneven texture.

Built-In Arpeggiator

The arpeggiator supports patterns from 2 to 16 steps, with control over velocity and note length. It is useful for quick bass sequences, repeating leads, moving chords, and rhythmic synth parts.

DAW Automation

Retro Buddy supports parameter automation inside compatible DAWs. Filters, effects, volume, panning, and other controls can be automated to create transitions and sounds that change over time.

Expandable Library

The instrument is designed to support additional machines, presets, and expansion libraries. This allows the sound collection to grow without changing the main workflow of the plugin.
